How We Conduct Remote Photography Shoots

Remote Photo Shoots with Quincy Street Kitchen

Adjusting to the “New Normal”

It’s true. Everyone is sick of hearing it, but Quincy Street Kitchen is happy to pivot and flex to fit clients’ needs. Being flexible is what we do best — besides taste-testing new recipes of course!

We know how important is it for everyone involved in a photoshoot to be as safe as possible. Over the past year and a half, we’ve developed a few great techniques that we use to produce great results with zero in-person contact.

Whether your team is working 100% remotely or someone tests positive, a remote photo shoot gets you the content you need without the in-person contact. Keep reading to learn how we accomplish this!

Develop a Thorough Plan

We start by creating a meticulously detailed plan. This includes setting expectations of our clients and the expectations clients have of us. We determine the type of content we’ll be creating and what we believe can be accomplished within the allotted timeframe.

While a pre-production meeting is important for in-person shoots, it’s imperative for remote shoots. We’ll be asking (what may seem like) an annoying amount of questions, but this is what helps us to deliver exactly what you need since it isn’t as easy to get questions answered while we’re on set.

Stay Active

Even though you’re not here in person with us during your photoshoot, we do need your attention throughout the day to ensure we can stay on track with our shot list.

We’ll be sending you images as we’re shooting through a private online gallery, but we also stay connected during the day over text messages, zoom calls, phone calls, or a combination of all three. We always aim to create and capture as much content for you as possible, but if we have to wait for approval we only have two options :

  1. We either have to move on and hope you like what we created.

  2. Or we’ll wait for your approval and end up sacrificing time and not be able to get as much done during the shoot.

While neither option is ideal, we’ve found that clients who commit to being active during our remote photoshoots (while casually multitasking on less imperative tasks) receive the best results.

Provide Feedback

Part of staying active and connected during a remote photo shoot involves giving our team feedback. This allows us to pivot and adjust what we’re doing so it’s exactly what you envisioned.

Tell us what you love, what you’d like to see more of, if you want something done differently, or if you just really don’t like something. Don’t worry about hurting our feelings or offending us because our goal is to create exactly what you want! We aim to please!

Feedback is part of the process! We can flex, adjust, and fix things while we’re on set to make the changes you want, but once the shoot is over, it’s a lot harder to resolve something that you’re not entirely happy with.
